Answers

1. Let the no. of Lucia’s sons = n Lucia’s age= n-1 * n-1
No. of brothers for each son = n-1 = a perfect square between 50 and 70
No. of sons for each of Lucia’s son = n-1 = 64

2.
200
150 Since the two birds travel with the same speed and meet at the same instant
the distance traveled by them is equal.
By Pythagoras theorem,
200*200 + x*x = (250-x)*(250-x)+150 * 150
x = 90ft

3. g - grass at the beginning r - rate at which grass grows, per day
y - rate at which one cow eats grass, per day n - no of cows to eat the grass in 96 days
g + 40*r = 40 * 40 * y------- 1 g + 60*r = 30 * 60 * y------- 2
g + n*r = 20 * n * y-------- 3

from 1 and 2--------------- r=10y g=120r

from 3---------------------- nr=120r -------------------------------------------- Ans: n = 120

4. Think logically.
Ans

of a card are of same color----------------------------------Ans

7. Let the dist traveled on level ground = x and on the hill be y.
x/4 + y/3 + y/6 + x/4 = 6
(x+y)/2 = 6km
8. Let the no. of poles originally = n
After taking away one pole (n-1)*12/3 = 1000 n = 251

9. x+y+z = z ==> x+y = 10 max value for y = 1 hence x = 1
also, (carry)1+x+y+z = x ==> 1+y+z = 10
hence z=8
10.The possible positions in the race are,
Andrew Andrew
Jim Jim
Jack Lucia
Lucia Jack

5) fill in the blanks with correct phrase.

answers:
-----------
1)64 condition given : Lusie age should fall between 54-70 suppose if she has 8 sons .
each son has 7 brother each sons has 7 sons (condition given :as many brothers they have)
8 sons having 56 sons adding 56 + 8 =64

2) 90

3) actually I got 120 for the given data. I forgot the figures, but i give u the step how to calculate

g - grass at the beginning r - rate at which grass grows, per day
y - rate at which one cow eats grass, per day n - no of cows to eat the grass in 90 days
formula: g+d*r=n*d*y ( I got this from old infosys paper)
g + 30*r = 50 * 30 * y -->(1) g + 60*r = 30 * 60 * y--->(2)
g + d*r = 60 * d * y --->(3)
frm (1)--------------------------g=1500y-30r
substitute g in (2) ----------------1500y-30r+60r=1800y 30r=300y r=10y
substitute y in (3)--------------1500y-300y+10dy=60dy 1200y=50dy d=240 days

4) 71842

5) yellow (lie)
yellow (true)
blue (true)
green (lie)

6) 12 K.M
T1 + T2=6 (3 to 9.p.m) T1-time during forward journey
T2-time during return journey D1+D2-forwared/Return distance
D1/4+D1/3 =T1 (forward time) D1/4+D2/6 =T2 (return time)
Adding we will get D1+D2=12 km

7) x=9 y=1, z=8
(i tried by assuming y=1 or y=2,(y-carry) i easily got)

8) 26 poles
solution: if n = poles (n-1) gaps of each 1000/(n-1) width
if n-1 poles (n-2) gaps of each 1000/(n-2) width
so, 1000/(n-2) -1000/(n-1) = 5/3
1000(1/(n-2) -1/(n-1)) = 5/3
1000(1/(n-1)(n-2)) = 5/3
(n-1)(n-2)=(3/5)*1000 = 600
as 600 = 25*24 ------------------------- so number of poles should be 26
9)andrew

10) easy analytical u can solve it.

Hi friends,
I attended Infosys written test on 8-5-2005 at Chennai and got short-listed. I thank Chetana madam a lot for her service. If it was not for this group, I wudnt have cleared the written test. Since I didn't have much time, I prepared only from the previous papers given by the group members now and then and that has really helped. Also, I thank all the people who shared their experience with the group. It gave me the much needed confidence. So thanks once again.
My HR interview was scheduled on 9-5-2005. But since I had my university semester examination on 9th, I couldn't attend it. I conveyed my problem to one of the Infosys staffs at the test centre and was given assurance that my interview would be re-scheduled to sometime around May 22nd.
As for the others, friends, I am attaching the question paper with the answers. I think I got all the 10 puzzles right.
-----------------------------------------------------------Regards...Archana

QUESTIONS PAPER - MAY 8, 2005
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) There was a cycle race going on. 1/5th of the those in front of a person and 5/6th of those behind him gives the total number of participants. How many people took part in the race? (3 marks)
---------------------------------------------------------------Ans : 31
Approach:
Let the total number of participants be X So, [(x-1)/5 + 5(x-1)/6] = X
2) Today is Saturday. A person wants to meet a lawyer and as that lawyer is busy he asks him to come three days after the before day of the day after tomorrow? On which day the lawyer asks the person to come? ------------------------------------------------------------------- Ans: Wednesday
Approach:
Today=Saturday Day after tomorrow=Monday
Day before day after tomorrow=Sunday
Three days after the day before the day after tomorrow=Wednesday
3) A person is 80 yrs old in 490 & only 70 years old in 500 in which year is he born? Ans: 570 BC
Approach:
Since the age gets decreased with the years, the years should definitely be in BC and hence u should increment the years as u decrease the age. Therefore if he is 70 years old in 500BC, he would have born on 570 BC!!
4) A man enquires a person about the past 5 days temperatures at 12 noon in that region. The other replies that he doesn't remember the actual figures but there was a different temperature on each day and that their product gives 12. Assuming the temperature to the nearest degree what are the temperatures on the five days? ----------------------------------------------------- Ans: -1,-2,1,2,3
Approach:
We know that the smallest two integers that can give a product of 12 is 3*4 which is spilt up as 2*2*3. But no temperature is the same...hence use -2 instead of 2. Now the product becomes -12. Choose the other temperatures such that value of the product does not change but only the sign changes. So naturally, the other two options are -1 and 1.
5) A cube is painted. It is cut into 27 cubes with three straight lines. Find the number of cubes with
a. 3 sides painted b. 2 sides painted c. 1 side painted d. no painted sides
Ans: a. 8 (4 corner cubes + 4 corner cubes) b. 12 (center cubes at each EDGE)
c. 6 (center cubes at each FACE) d. 1 (cube at the center of the original cube)
Approach
Draw a cube (with front, top and side faces, dont draw the inner lines. that'll confuse) cut it into 27 cubes. thats done by drawing 3 horizontal and 3 vertical lines on the front face of the cube. extend those lines along the other two faces. then COUNT accordingly.
6) A person travels at a speed of 10 mph from one city to another. However while returning as there was not much traffic. He came with a speed of 15mph. what is his average speed?----Ans: 12 mph
Approach:
Let the distance be X Distance/ Time=Speed
Time taken for forward journey=X/10 Time taken for return journey=X/15
Total time for to and fro journey T =[(X/10)+(X/15)]
Total distance covered D=2X Hence, average speed= D/T = 12mph
7) There is a peculiar island where people speak a strange language called 'Kubi'.The men always speak truth and a women never say two 2 consecutive truth or false statements, that is, if she says truth statement once then she says false statement next and vice versa. The boys and girls always lie. One day I asked a child "Are you a boy or girl ?" and the child replied in Kubi. Since I didn't know the language, I asked the child's parents what it means. One of the parents said "The child says,"I am a boy"" and the other said that "The child is a girl. He lied".
a) Is the child a boy or a girl
b) Which parent answered first?-------- Ans: The child is a girl and father answered first.
Approach:
Take the statement "The child is a girl. He lied". If 'He lied' is true, then the child is a girl is a false. Likewise, is 'He lied' is false, then the child is a girl is true => The second statement was given by the child's mother and hence the father answered first.
Take the statement "The child says,"I am a boy". Since the father always speak the truth, the child should have said that he was a boy. But then the child lies, so he cannot be a boy => the child was a girl. (Confused? Try reasoning it out yourself, u'll understand the logic)
8) There is a couple and they have many children. 7 of them dont eat spinach. 5 ot them dont eat carrot. 6 of them dont eat beans. 4 of them dont eat either spinach or carrot. 2 of them eat neither spinach or beans and 3 of them eat neither carrot or beans. and 1 dont eat spinach, carrot or beans. How many children r there in total? ----------------------------------------- Ans: 9 children
Approach:
4 of them don't eat spinach or carrot => 4 of them eat beans alone.
2 of them don't eat spinach or beans => 2 of them eat carrots alone.
3 of then don't eat carrot or beans =>3 of them eat spinach alone.
Total children=4+2+3=9
(If some other reasoning approach was chosen, the remaining three statements could be used. But this one is simple and I am sure that the answer is right. Try out the other approaches anyway)
9) There are three tribes in a village. The Sorobean always speaks the truth. The Narobean always lies and the Midorean speaks truth and false alternatively. From the following statements, find out who belongs to which tribe.
A: I am a Sorobean B: I am a Sorobean C: I am a Sorobean Ans: A -Midorean,
B is a Narobean C is a Midorean A is a Midorean B-Narobean, C-Sorobean
Approach:
Simple ! Assume one as Sorobean and try to satisfy the conditions. All the above statement get satisfied only for the above answer. I think the statements that I have given are right...am sorry if its wrong but the answer to this puzzle in the Infy paper is the one that I have given above.
10) A flight is scheduled to depart at 12 midnight. A family arrived at the airport 10 hours late and missed the flight. If they had arrived 4 hours earlier, they would have reached the airport 2 hours earlier to the departure of the flight. (Something like that...not sure of the values). What is the present time ? ---------------------------------------------------------------- Ans: 4PM
Approach:
Let the present time be X If they r 4 hours early, they arrive at airport at X+(10-4)=X-6.
The train leaves at 12 midnight => total duration from morning 12am 10 12 midnight=24 hours.
x-6 is 2 hours earlier to 12Pm =>24-(x-6)=2========== X=16 hours=4PM.
Dear friends I am passing on Infosys paper test held on 9th Oct 2005 at Sydneham College, MUMBAI. And the subsequent interview experience.
FIRST OF ALL THANKS TO CHETANA MAM FOR THIS WONDERFUL GROUP. It truly helped me for preparation.
Some tips for preparation:
I did Shakuntala Devi Puzzle to Puzzle and More puzzle. In one of the Chetana mails only I had found explanations for few Shakuntala Devi Puzzles..it really helps, u get idea how to proceed any problem.
Then previous Papers are must. Qnes r repeated they save your time and that u can devote to new puzzles in paper during test. This will boost ur confidence while solving. My test had nearly 50% puzzles repeated. So previous papers really helped me a lot. Acc to me PREV PAPERS IS THE KEY TO CRACK THE TEST.
George Summers rough overview is good if times there go a bit thoroughly but don’t spend much time
NOW THE PAPER:
10 Puzzles 1 hr
1. There are 100 students among them 10 dont study both physics & chemistry,63 studying physics,85 studying chemistry. How many of them are studying both chemistry and physics ----------------------------------- ans; 63+85-90=68 (3 mark) (similar Qn. Asked prev)
[ Suppose 1and 6 we fix in any 2 faces rem nos we can arrange in 4 ways again 4 combi in same way but 1 and 6 interchanged ie 8 combi for 1 pair so 8x3=24 combi. Chk out tis one ……….]
5. Plumber+Paperhanger=1100 Plumber+Painter=1300
Painter+electrision=..... and so on 6 equation. (8 mark) (repe)
------------------------------------------------------------Ans: You can solve equation or try few values u get the ans.. i didn’t had enough time so I put values and tried luckily I got correct answer
6. Some milkman problem. There are two cans A&B can A contains water, can B contains pure milk . To dilute the milk first he put water frm Can A to Can B so that he doubles the qty in Can B. then poured some qty frm Can B to Can A to double qty in Can A and then again frm Can A to Can B to double qty in Can B. At the end he finds both Qty same but in Can B 1 gallon water is more than Can A (something like this I’m sorry I don’t remember exactly the last sentence). So what is the initial quantity of milk and water (6 or 8 mark)
I didn’t solve only tis qn. If ny1 has d ans plz put it in group mail.
I don't have the exact number but there were approx. 1200-1500 students ( 04-05 batches) for the written exam.
It was surprising to know that many of them did'nt know the pattern of exam. there were 10 puzzles to be solved in 1 hr followed by English grammar for 1/2 hr.
Here are a few Questions I remember :
2. A man starts from his house and after some time he comes across a milestone that shows the distance travelled in Kms. It is a 2 digit number. after an hr. he gets another milestone with the same 2 digits reversed. After an hr. he gets another milestone with the same two digits but with a Zero in between. What is his speed? 4 marks ----------------------------------------- Ans : 45kph
3. Sita goes to Gita's house during vacation. They play a game of chess everyday and the loser has to give a chocolate to the winner for every game . Sita gave 8 chocolates to Gita at the end of the vacation, although she had won 12 games. How long did she stay there? 5 mark--- Ans : 32 days
4. There is a train from NY to Washington every 1/2 hr and 1 hr. there is a train from Washington to NY every 1 hr. (constant speed assumed) it takes 5 hrs from NY to Washington and 5 hrs. to come back. On your way from Washington to NY, how many trains will cross you? 6 marks
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ans: 19 trains
[There were 2 big 8 mark questions whose data I don't remember. I got one of them correct and guessed the other. There were 2 questions that I did'nt feel like attempting, so left the answers blank. whatever I did, I ensured that I showed it clearly in the 2 rough sheets provided. I ensured that I scored at least 30. left the rest to fate.]
Results were out the same evening. I could see my name in the 180 short listed for the interview next day.
Here is how it went:
They had given me a time 9:40 am. i reached the place at 9:05am and my name was called exactly at 9:40. There were 2 in a panel . A man over 50 with tremendous experience and a lady over 40 with good experience.
1st question was : Tell me about urself.- the man asked = I said what I had prepared for 2 pages. it was good and the person seemed impressed.
(bouncers followed)
Who is the table tennis national champion? - he asked --------I said i donno, i am sorry.
Has there been any change in the rules of the game recently?- he asked
( i thot i had come to a wrong place!! perhaps I should not have written Table tennis as one of my interests) I'm not sure . - i said (he wanted an answer. )
" Related to the points"? - he asked yes - i said. previously there were 15 pts , now its 20 pts.
"Sure?" yes- i said
" Related to the size of the ball " ?- he asked = i gave a smile. i donno - i said. The lady had meanwhile seen my application.
So u like music?- she asked yes. very much. In fact music is my passion and i have won inter college competition in 2004 in vocals.- i said
From which university? Prayag university in Allahabad- i said
NOW THE MAN COMES INTO THE ACT
Tell me how many squares are there in a chess board? i said 64 . then said no. there are many more.
(they gave me a paper and pen to solve) I had solved it a yr ago. but it just did'nt strike me at that time. i said 8! but couldn't prove it.
(when i came out, it struck me that the answer was 8^2+ 7^2+......1^2)
Where do you see yourself 5 yrs down the line? - the lady asked = (i thot for a while).. as a team leader but my 1st and foremost priority is to learn as much as possible all the time. Especially with all these changes in the industry coming about. i want to update myself everyday with technology.
So do you read newspapers?- he asked = Everyday- i said
Which place was most affected by the recent Hurricane ? The Mississippi region.
(he shakes his head) which was the city which was asked to evacuate?
i said ..yes...but i could not recollect.
He said - the name Started with "New". i thot ..then said New Orleans.
So what kind of music is famous over there? i gave a smile... and said i dont know.
I thot u were interested in music ? -he said = Yes. but i really donno the answer of that, i'm sorry
Interestingly, the lady took the cap of a cello pen and placed it on the table.
Tell me some possible ways in which you could use this cap, be creative.- she said.
U can use it as a whistle- i said
Tell me 2-3 more i thot ,thot and thot. more than a min. then said- u can put it in ur pocket and roam around when u dont have a pen. Both of them laughed and looked at each other. I couldn't think anything else.
HI friends
This is Elavarasan, I thank u all for Ur help. When I got the call letter I had no hope of doing it, but the valuable information that u all gave made me to clear Infosys Aptitude test, but…I didn’t do the Interview well, sorry not even fine! All because of my carelessness. In this mail I am giving u the way how I prepared for the written test and along with that my Interview questions. I hope u all would have got enough “aptitude test” question papers so I am leaving that.
Preparation
I got the hall ticket on 31st August 2005. A week before that I went through about 100 puzzles in Shakuntala Devi’s “Puzzle to puzzle you”. I found that very boring and took many days to go through. As soon as I got the hall ticket I send a mail requesting for help to all my mailing groups. I received lot of help from the groups. I seriously prepared for the exam for about 4 days. In that 4 days I finished two books of Shakuntala devi ( “puzzles to puzzle you” and “more puzzles” ). Then I took George Summers’ puzzle book. It was very tough and I lost my hope and concentration. I spent 2 days in George Summers, but I was able to go through only 17 problems in that. Then I had four days left. I started to prepare previous year question papers. I first started with the latest one i.e., 2005 papers, then I worked out 2004 question papers. I noticed many question were repeating and gave an extra attention to the repeating questions. I also went through R.S.Agarwal for problems on age, time and work, time and distance and clock. This is all I did.
The Exam
My exam venue was at Meenakshi College, Chennai. When the question paper was given I found most of the questions were from previous test papers. I was able to answer many questions without solving them (but I neatly presented the steps in the paper), because I solved those questions many time while I was preparing for the test. But even then it was highly impossible for me to answer the entire question set in time. I left 3 questions. The English section was very easy and I completed that very quickly.
The result
I didn’t have any hope of getting selected. But to my surprise I found my name in the
notice board and time for the Interview was printed next to that as 2:00 P.M. As it was very crowded, I just saw my name and the time, but didn’t see the Venue!!!!!
Interview
For interview, I just went through my project. The next day I dressed well and went to Meenakshi College exactly at 2.00 P.M for attending Interview. Only after going there I came to know that the venue was at Infosys campus which is about 30 K.M from the college. I felt “Oh my God, I made a very big mistake!” and immediately phoned Infosys but both the phone numbers were busy! Without knowing what to do I dove to Infosys campus (In the heavy traffic ofChennai city). After clearing the security I went to the interview block. I was 1hr late for the interview.
I met the coordinator for 2 o clock batch and apologized him for my mistake. He was very kind and spoke to me calmly. Then came a senior officer (He must be a senior HRD manager), He was very angry on me and he didn’t seemed to be convincing. I was already scared about the interview, added with that his tension made me feel very bad. I was immediately called for the interview (I didn’t even have a second to wash my dusty face or comb my hair!!). In the interview panel there were twoladies. Here I use L1, L2, and ME, for the interviewers and me. And… here is my interview.
ME-- Good Evening mam. L1 and L2-- Good Evening.
ME-- I am extremely sorry for being late. I should have been here by 2 o clock but I taught the venue was at Meenakshi College and I went there, only after going there I came to know that the venue is here, that is why I am late mam.
L2-- Didn’t you see ur venue yesterday?
ME-- Mam there was heavy rush at Meenakshi College yesterday, so once I saw my name and my interview time I left.
L1-- didn’t u consult with any others?
ME-- no mam.
ME—just now I came here so may I have some water mam?
L1—sure have some and make comfort.
ME—Thank you mam
L1—So, Ela..va…rasan Ariv….ala…gan, is this the way others call u?
ME –Yes mam, but few of my friends call me as “Prince”.
L1 – Prince! Why?
ME – because... (L2 interrupted and said to L1 that the word “Elavarasan” in Tamil means Prince)
L2 – Ok Elavarasan, tell us about you.
ME – I started with my home town, then about my family, then about my education about my hobbies and finally the prizes won in competitions.
L2 – What do u think as ur greatest strength Elavarasan?
ME – I think, my greatest strength is my commitment to work. If I am committed to do something I make sure that it has completed. (After a pause) I don’t care
about the amount of work I have to put forward or the amount of time it takes to complete the task.
L2 – So, ur greatest weakness?
ME – mam I think it is time management. I concentrate much on fine details and always leave time.
L2 – Have u faced any problem because of that?
ME – yes mam, even while preparing for my exams if I struck up in a topic I wouldn’t move to next topic.
L1 – Elavarasan, let us think that u have joined the company and after joining the company you are asked to go to California, where there is a threat that Bin
Laden is going to attack California. All the seniors don’t want to go because of the threat so you are chosen, because you are a fresher. So, what will u do in such a situation?
ME – I’ll go to California.
L1 – what? Is that practical? Be pragmatic are u ready to risk Ur life for a company?
ME – mam I am practical. If the death is going to come for a man it will come to him, no matter where he is even if he stays in India he will face death.
L2 – Then you are ready to go into a burning house?
ME – mam it’s a burning house, I know it is burning so, I will not go in. But going to California is not like that, there is a threat that’s all. It may happen or it may not happen.
L1 – Will ur parents accept this and send u to California?
ME – mam we all do believe in God. If he is my protector then I believe that he will protect me at California too. (After a while)
L2 – Think of a scenario in which u are the only person in ur college selected to do a project. That requires a lot of preparation and work. If u do that u will gain a lot of technical knowledge. At the same time you are chosen by ur principal to do another project which is not very important for u but very important for ur principal. He wanted u to do it. Both of the project requires heavy work and heavy preparation, and u need to submit a report about Ur projects daily. What will u do in this situation?
ME – mam, firstly I’ll talk to my principal and will tell him about my situation.
L2 – If he is very adamant that u must do that project?
ME –I’ll take both the project and try to do them, that’s all I can do
L1 – How can it be possible to allocate time in such a tight schedule between two different projects?
ME – I know it is very difficult but there is no other go, so, I have to do that so...
L1 – Won’t u try any other method?
ME – no, mam first I’ll speak to him; if he compels me I will do the work.
L1—try to solve this puzzle (she game me puzzle in a small bit of paper) The puzzle read like this “ Starting with 1 half cup of coffee and 1 half cup of tea, if u take 1 teaspoon of tea and mix it to the coffee and then u take a teaspoon of that mixture and mix it with the tea. At last what will be more coffee or tea? “. It is very easy puzzle; the answer is both the content remains same. But I taught in a different way and answered wrongly!!!
ME – mam coffee will be more.
L1 – (with a smile) Justify it.
ME – If u takes a teaspoon of tea and put it into coffee… (I shouldn’t have used “put” here) tea gets diluted. If u take a teaspoon of that mixture and add it to tea, that would have had more coffee in that than tea.
L1 – try this puzzle.
She gave me another simple puzzle “If the only sister of your mother’s only brother has only one child then what is the relationship between u and that child?” Can you imagine a simplest puzzle than this? But my mind worked in a different way and answered completely wrong. The actual answer is “yourself”, but I in a hurry answered “my cousin”!!!
ME – mam , it is my cousin.
L1 and L2 – what? (At the same time)
L1 – may be u have to read it again Elavarasan.
ME – (After a while) I think it should be my cousin.
L1 – how?
ME – If my mother’s brother had a sister then, she must be my mother’s sister too, hence her child must be my cousin.
L2 – (with lowered voice as if I have done the interview badly) Elavarasan, do u have any qns?
ME – Hmmm no mam.
L1 – Ok , you may leave now.
ME – Thank u mam (and left the room, I was about to close the door, some think blinked in my mind only then I realized that the answer to the last puzzle was just “me”, I again felt “Oh my God another big mistake”)
After my interview was over I was asked to sit in a place and my ID was taken to get signed from the HR manager. He was no other than the person who was angry at me when I went late. He went to my interview panel and spoke for a while with the interviewers. This made me sure that I would not be selected. After a while he came with the very same angry face and gave my ID to my coordinator. He called out my name and asked me to return the ID to the security.
My Advice
So, friends, don’t ever be careless like me and loose a valuable moment in your life. It will be a very big lose.
2> Rohit was descending from the elavator which was not working. When he had stepped down
7 steps his sir started from the bottom of the elevator and they passed each other and when Rohit had still 4 steps to go down, his sir reached at the top. Taking into consideration that sir's 2 steps took same time as Rohit's one what were the total no of steps? ----------- Ans 22 steps ( 4 marks)
let no of steps be x ---------- speed=distance/time
Distance covered by Rohit = x-7-4 (7 steps already covered and 4 were still to go)
Distance covered by sir = x
Speed of Rohit =s Speed of sir = 2s
Time taken is equal in both the cases so-------------Time(rohit)=time(sir)
(x-7-4) / s = x / 2s
2x - 22 = x
x=22
3> A vendor who is an ex-mathematician has a number of apples and when he arranges them in rows of 3 he is left with one more, when he arranges them in rows of 5 again he is left with 1 more, Same happens with when he tries to arrange them in rows of 7 and 9 that is 1 apple is left extra.
But when he arranges them in a row of 11 he is left with none. Can u tell me how many apples were there? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ans : 946 ( 3 marks)
the no is a multiple of 3,5,7,9 + a remainder of 1. So 3* 5* 7* 9= 945 + 1 =946
946 /11= 86 so it is divisible by 11 also.
Approach:
We know that the smallest two integers that can give a product of 12 is 3*4 which is spilt up as 2*2*3. But no temperature is the same...hence use -2 instead of 2. Now the product becomes -12. Choose the other temperatures such that value of the product does not change but only the sign changes. So naturally, the other two options are -1 and 1.
